Perfect Stranger (2007, United States)

An investigative reporter, Rowena Price, gathers the information regarding a scandal involving a senator, but when she is ready to put the final nail in the coffin of the politician’s career, the story is shut down by her editors. She quits her job and while planning her future steps, she is approached by a childhood friend, Grace Clayton. Grace wants to take down a wealthy advertising executive, Harrison Hill, who had an extramarital affair with her. She even provides e-mails as a proof, which draws Rowena’s attention. A few days later, Grace is found dead, she was poisoned with belladonna and then drowned. While Rowena begins to suspect Hill of being behind the murder, she plans to infiltrate his company, H2A, and find more evidence with the help of Miles, who knows the ways she could reach the data she needs. She is hired as a temporary worker in H2A and tries to get closer to Hill, while she learns about another woman he supposedly had an affair with, who later was found dead.

American thriller with impressive main cast (Willis, Berry, RBIs) and interesting plot that gains extra layers as the story progresses. While the movie was sometimes described as neo-noir, it is not really that dark as could be expected, nor it can be called deep. On one hand, the story is actually not bad, but on the other, it seems that most of the budged went to the actors playing main characters, rather than improving the script and building more complex intrigue. Nevertheless, the ending saves the movie, even if the first part is not that great.
