Inspector Gregory of Scotland Yard sets out to investigate a series of unusual events spread across different parts of the country. His first stop is a small town called Englender, where someone has moved a dead body that was laid in a secluded morgue. It seems like a morbid joke, but some of the details begin to worry Gregory. When similar incidents take place in different places, the police tries to figure out what is going on before it could cause panic among the public. There were cases in which police officers were placed to guard morgues, but this plan backfired and made things even more complicated for Gregory. A constable, guarding one of the morgues, left his post and later was found dead with a terrified expression on his face. What is more, the body that was inside that closed morgue was moved. Inspector begins to allow the thought that some sort of supernatural element is in play here, even though it contradicts everything he believes in. Gregory sets out to seek help from the eccentric Doctor Sciss, who has some interesting theories about the world that we live in. With time, Sciss also becomes the suspect in the investigation.

Gloomy and dark Polish TV movie, based on a short story by the legendary sci-fi author Stanislaw Lem. It is an interesting tale of clash between the rationality of police work and the spiritual side of the world - things that happen can be interpreted in different ways and can lead to completely different conclusions. Even the production is not well-known, it is a masterpiece in style of Edgar Allan Poe stories.
