Rock Slyde 2009 detective movie

Rock Slyde (2009, United States)
What career could you choose with a name like Rock Slyde? Perhaps you could become a private detective. Or more likely a porn star. Our protagonist chose both of them. Sort of. For a while. When he was younger. Now, more mature, he spends his time selling things on eBay and tries to keep a perfect score of satisfaction of his online clients. And, of course, he has a small office and a devoted secretary like a cliché private detective would. When a beautiful woman hires him to protect her, but his suspicious mind does not let him forget that clients like that happen only in novels or old movies. So, he jumps into his inconspicuous, tiny metro car and sets out to start his investigation. At the same time, he has to deal with the people sent by an eccentric cult leader, Bart, who happens to have offices of his Barthology movement located in the same office building.
A detective comedy built around some clichés about classic detective stories, parody of Scientology-like cults in Hollywood and a bit of off-beat comedy in the background. As for an independent production, Rock Slyde had a surprisingly recognizable cast (Patrick Warburton, Andy Dick, Rena Sofer) and quite a few well-known actors in cameos (Jason Alexander, Lea Thompson, Eric Roberts). The script was a mixed bag, some of the ideas and parodies worked well, some of them were not so good, but overall it was a nice piece of escapism, a bit of entertainment deeply rooted in classic detective movies.
