Fargo 1996 detective movie

Fargo (1996, United States)
Jerry Lundegaard, an executive sales manager of a Minneapolis-based car dealership owned by his father-in-law, is desperate for money. The plan he comes up with is simple - he hires a pair of criminals, who will kidnap his wife, and then he will collect the ransom money from her father. While finding the kidnappers was easier than he would think, the prices they asked for, a new car, was also pretty easy to achieve for him, soon there were complications that triggered a surprising chain of events. First, the father-in-law, agrees to have a look at the project Jerry was working on, a buyout of a land that he would transform into a parking lot. After consultation with his financial adviser, they think the idea is a sound investment. Jerry tries to contact the kidnappers and cancel the kidnapping plans, but it seems he was too late. What is more, the father-in-law had other plans than actually giving him the money for the future parking lot. Meanwhile, the kidnappers actually reach his house and take his wife away, but their plan also backfires.
Classic Coen brothers movie about a pregnant police woman trying to figure out what happened near Brainerd, Minnesota, and the unusual chain of events that took place after Jerry Lundegaard kicked off the whole plot. While this is hardly a typical detective story or even mystery movie, the well-constructed plot and good cast gave this production a unique style and character.
