Clarice Starling, a young FBI agent, is a part of investigative team trying to catch a serial killer known as "Buffalo Bill". So far all they have is that the perpetrator killed 5 women, cut off large parts of their skin and then dumped their bodies into the river. In the absence of any solid leads the agency decides to get in contact with other serial killer, currently in the maximum security prison, who could provide them with some guidance. Hannibal Lecter, a former psychiatrist was also a serial killer, until he was arrested. Starling visits him in the prison, and begins to realize why Lecter is kept such secure place. Not only he was suspected of eating parts of the flesh of his victims, but also is sophisticated and highly intelligent, which makes him a dangerous predator. From the first meeting he tries to manipulate Starling and get into her head, but also states that he not only might know the identity of Buffalo Bill, but also he can figure out what his next step will be. The cat-and-mouse game between Lecter and Clarice begins...

Psychological thriller based around the iconic character of Hannibal Lecter, won five Oscars, and for a reason. The atmosphere is chilling, the cast was perfect for the setting (Jodie Foster as slightly naive young agent and magnificent Anthony Hopkins as the mysterious Lecter). Definitely something you should see at least once.
