The Great Sherlock Holmes Puzzle Book 2020 detective book

The Great Sherlock Holmes Puzzle Book (2020, United Kingdom)
How can you tell which switch will turn on the bulb in a room you cannot see from here, and you can have only one go at it? How two twins could have birthdays two days apart? How is it possible that two identical people, born from the same mother on the same day, are not twins? Those are just some of the puzzles you will stumble upon in this book, but also you will get the public domain story written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle entitled "The Adventure of the Reigate Squire".
The Great Sherlock Holmes Puzzle Book: A Collection of Enigmas to Puzzle Even the Greatest Detective of All, as the full title reads, is a collection of puzzles, sometimes decades old, put together and adapted so they would fit more or less into narrative similar to the one of the classic Arthur Conan Doyle stories about the famous detective. Some of the puzzles do not really fit into the era (f.e. which switch turns on the light in the other room), some of them are just mathematical problems (calculating probability of something) and some are just wordplays, so overall it is a mixed bag.
There are few of them that are actually quite clever, few of them are not properly explained so you could work out the details on your own, few of them are just mathematical problems (which are not for everyone’s taste) and there are some that will just irritate you. This is one of many publications by Dr Gareth Moore available to buy, perhaps not his best work to be honest.
