Belgian detective Hercule Poirot is invited by his friend, director of company that runs the famous Orient Express, to be his guest during the travel to Dover. Among the passengers there are aristocrats with their servants or employees, a diplomat, retired army officer, a loud woman, who likes to complain, also American businessman Samuel Ratchett and his secretary Hector McQuuen. While crossing the Yugoslavia train is forced to stop in the middle of nowhere due to snowdrift that blocked the tracks, but soon the passengers discover the delay is not their biggest problem. Ratchett was found dead in his compartment with several stab wounds, but it seems that the American was poisoned first. Hercule Poirot is puzzled by the case, but accepts the challenge to solve the mystery and find who killed Ratchett before the snow plough will provide the way to the next station.
Classic Agatha Christie novel adapted into film that itself became a classic. Eccentric detective mixed with equally eccentric passengers tries to figure out why the American businessman was killed and why day before he tried to hire Poirot to protect him without explaining why. Great performances from the cast and well built atmosphere of the story put Murder on the Orient Express among the all-time classics.
